Sekai Saidai no "KOMAINU"
The world's largest guardian dog
"KOMAINU" means statue pairs of lion-like creatures guarding the entrance of many Japanese shrines to keep out evil spirits.
Manufactured in 1990, there are about 3.3 meters in height, and weigh 15 tons.
It is the Guinness World record holder for the largest Mino ware Komainu.
Mino-yaki Komainu was born by the gathering of local people, modeled on the work of Yozaemon Hashiba, the 4th generation Okawa kiln.
It is also called the best guardian lion-dogs because of made as Mino-yaki.
Highlights
As many as 1,000 people took 183 days to make the stone guardian dogs, and there are also pictures of the production process next to the stone guardian dogs.
During the year-end and New Year holidays, the surrounding area is decorated with about 1 million light bulbs, making it a winter festival.
